YSRCP chief and former Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy is again preparing to go on another foreign trip. In this context, he filed a petition in the CBI court on Friday, seeking permission for his foreign trip. In the petition, former CM YS Jagan made it clear that he should be allowed to travel abroad this month, that is, from January 11th to 15th.
YS Jagan stated in his petition that he wants to settle down in London with his family. The court has ordered the CBI to file a counter to YS Jagan’s petition. Arguments in the court will begin after the CBI files its counter.
YS Jagan went to London with his family last year soon after completion of polling in the state and he returned home before the election results. However, his party lost badly in this election. The party did not even get opposition status. Due to this, he wrote a letter to the Assembly Speaker asking him to grant them opposition status.
However, the Assembly Speaker made it clear that if there is no strength of members, opposition status cannot be given. With that, YS Jagan approached the AP High Court to order the government to grant him opposition status.
On the other hand, YS Jagan was previously arrested by the CBI in the disproportionate assets case. He was in Chanchalguda jail for 16 months. Later, he came out on bail. His two daughters, one in London and the other in the US, are in London. So, YS Jagan had to get permission from the CBI court to visit them.
However, YS Jagan has been the Chief Minister of AP for the last five years. Due to this, he was issued a diplomatic passport. But after his party lost the 2024 assembly elections, that passport was also automatically cancelled.
Meanwhile, YSRCP top leader and Rajya Sabha member Vijayasai Reddy will appear before the enforcement directorate on Monday. Karnati Venkateswara Rao had previously filed a complaint with the ED alleging that Vijayasai Reddy had forcibly snatched his shares in Kakinada Sea Port Limited and Kakinada SEZ.
After examining this complaint, the ED found that Vijayasai Reddy had committed money laundering. As part of that, notices were issued to Vijayasai Reddy to appear before them on Monday.
