It was earlier decided to give a grand welcome to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is coming on May 2 to lay the foundation stone for the approximately Rs. 1 lakh crore capital Amaravati works. But the road shows were canceled in the wake of tensions building up in border areas following the terrorist strike in Pahalgam of Jammu and Kashmir.
Initially, Modi’s helipad was set up at the AP Secretariat. From there, the officials planned for Prime Minister Modi to hold a roadshow for about a kilometer to the meeting. A route map has been prepared so that 30,000 women farmers of the capital will stand on both sides of the road and welcome the Prime Minister with flowers. Barricades have already been set up on the route.
However, in the wake of the recent terrorist attacks on tourists in Pahalgam, intelligence has imposed several restrictions on the PM’s visit to Amaravati for security reasons. It has been concluded that bringing the Prime Minister to the venue in an open-top jeep amidst thousands of people is not very good from a security perspective.
As a result it was decided to cancel the road show to that extent. This was announced by Veerapandian, who is acting as the state coordinator for the Prime Minister’s visit, on Saturday. In a review meeting of police, revenue and various department officials held at the venue, he explained the changes that took place during the Prime Minister’s visit.
He said that there will be no road show in the open top. Changes should be made in the arrangements accordingly. He said that even if the open top road show is canceled, the state government has taken special measures to welcome the Prime Minister from the helipad to the venue in a car with 15,000 people on both sides.
He said that arrangements should be made for them. The meeting will be held as usual. Only the Prime Minister’s road show has been canceled. The authorities are making arrangements to hold the meeting as usual. Arrangements are being made to ensure that five lakh people attend the meeting. On the other hand, security has been tightened this time for Modi’s visit.
