A tragic incident claimed the life of a Hyderabad student in the United States after his personal firearm accidentally discharged. According to the reports, the victim, 23-year-old Palvai Aryan Reddy, a second-year MS student at Kennesaw State University in Atlanta, Georgia, passed away on November 13. The news came to light only recently.
Aryan, the only son of Palvai Sudarshan Reddy and Geetha, residents of Dharmapuri Colony in Uppal, Hyderabad, had moved to the US in December 2022 for higher studies. According to family members, Aryan celebrated his birthday with friends on the day of the incident. Later, a gunshot was heard from his room, and his friends found him fatally injured. A bullet had pierced his chest, resulting in his immediate death.
His father, Sudarshan Reddy, speculated that Aryan might have accidentally discharged the gun while cleaning it.
Speaking about his son, Sudarshan Reddy revealed Aryan’s passion for serving the nation and his interest in joining the armed forces, a dream his parents discouraged. Expressing anguish, he blamed the prevalent gun culture in the United States for Aryan’s untimely demise.
Sudarshan Reddy also shared his shock at learning that students could obtain gun licenses in the US. Aryan had acquired a hunting gun license in August after passing a required test.
