Fielding a woman, who is new to politics and also to the party from the sensitive Hyderabad Lok Sabha constituency creating internal bickering in BJP from the very beginning. The only BJP MLA who had won continuously three times, that too from Hyderabad city Goshamahal, which is party of Hyderabad Lok Sabha, Raja Singh on the very first day of declaring her candidature expressed his strong opposition.
Madhavi Latha, a businesswoman, who has been associating with some religious programmes in the Old City, herself said without approaching anyone in BJP she was announced as party candidate. But party insiders say to keep away potential party leaders from the electoral race, she was picked up by the union minister and state BJP chief G Kishan Reddy.
Her provocatie comments on sitting AIMIM MP Asaduddin Owaisi, party insiders say actually helped him. A recent video in which she was seen gesturing shooting an arrow towards a mosque, during a procession surfaced on Thursday, has been sending conflicting signals.
The video which is going viral, appears to have been shot on Wednesday during the Sri Ram Navami procession in the city. In a post on ‘X,’ Madhavi said it has come to her notice that an incomplete video of her is being circulated in the media to create negativity.
“I would like to clarify that it’s an incomplete video and even because of such video if any one’s sentiments are hurt then I would like to apologise as I respect all individuals,” she said in the post.
However, AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi came down heavily on the saffron party saying there is threat to peace from BJP and RSS. He rebuked mediapersons also for not giving enough importance to the video.
“You people are not showing the vulgar aggressive act being played near a religious structure by the BJP and RSS. What kind of message is being given with his kind of acts? Had it been me, you people would have put a snake around my neck,” he said.
He said he is appealing to the youth of the city that there has been peace and tranquility in Hyderabad for the past 15 years and the BJP and RSS are trying to spoil the image of “Brand Hyderabad.” Reacting to a query on the video, Chief Electoral Officer Vikas Raj said it has not come to his notice.
Moreover, providing her Y Category security by the Union Home Ministry also not taken well by the BJP cadre. They felt if any one is having security threat in Hyderabad City it was MLA Raja Singh. There were several cases in which he had reportedly received `death threats’ from some Pakistan number telephone numbers. But the Union Home Minister never bothered about him.
