The Supreme Court of India has adjourned the AP Government’s case of issuing a stay on the AP High Court’s order of not shifting the capital to Vizag. The Apex Court refused to issue a stay on the HC’s orders which issued a stay on converting a single capital into three thereby throwing water on Jagan’s dreams.
It is a known fact that the farmers of Amravati approached the High Court of AP against Chief Minister YS Jagan’s plan to have three capitals. The High Court issued a stay on the three capitals thereby halting the plans of Jagan to shift his residence from Tadepalli to Vizag’s Rushikonda. AP Government immediately took the AP HC’s stay to the Supreme Court and by urgent hearing plea, the case came to the hearing. The bench consisting of Justices Sanjiv Khanna and Bela M Trivedi heard the argument from Advocate K K Venu Gopal representing the AP Government. The Bench opined that they could not issue a stay on the High Court’s judgment and adjourned the next hearing to December. Thus Jagan cannot shift to Vizag as of now and all his plans are shattered.
Needless to say, the next hearing would not fetch the final result even in December’s hearing and the case would be prolonged beyond the general elections of AP in 2024. So Jagan who is already facing a lot of criticism from the voters for not completing Polavaram would also have to face the embarrassment of neither completing one capital nor his proposed three capitals.
