SC Questioned CBI Over Delay in Disproportionate Assets Case Investigation

Sunday, November 10, 2024

The Supreme Court heard petitions seeking the cancellation of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy’s bail in a disproportionate assets case and the transfer of the investigation to another state. Justices Sanjeev Khanna and Deepankar Datta reviewed the case, questioning the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) about the delay in its investigation. The court instructed the CBI to submit an affidavit within four weeks explaining the delay and urged them to expedite the probe, emphasizing that political stature should not impede the investigation process. The next hearing, considering both petitions, is scheduled for a week starting from August 5.
