Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy responded to the unexpected defeat of the ruling YSRCP from Tadepalli this evening. “We have done good for everyone, but we have lost,” he said.
“We introduced volunteer and secretariat systems, provided welfare to 1.05 crore people, and made unprecedented changes in the education system for the betterment of children. We gave pensions to widows, disabled individuals, and the elderly. Every promise we made, we fulfilled. I don’t understand what happened to the love of the people.
We supported 54 lakh farmers on time, yet I don’t understand what happened to their support. I am deeply grateful to every leader, worker, volunteer, and every household that stood by me through all difficulties.
I don’t know what went wrong, but despite all our efforts, we could not reduce our 40 percent vote bank. We will definitely rise from this situation. We will move forward with courage. Being in opposition is not new to us—fighting is not new to us.
Except for these five years, my entire political life has been in opposition. I have fought and faced hardships that no one else has seen in their political career. We are ready to face any more difficulties. Best wishes to those who have come into the government. Congratulations to Chandrababu Naidu and Pawan Kalyan.”
