Hyderabad: Senior Congress leader Vijayashanti stated that she had previously declined an opportunity from the party leadership, choosing instead to focus on her responsibilities. Speaking after filing her nomination as an MLC candidate, she emphasized that while she had been associated with Congress earlier, she never actively sought positions. She also recalled that her primary objective in the past was to work towards unseating the KCR-led government.
Vijayashanti clarified that she rejoined Congress following an invitation from Chief Minister Revanth Reddy. She remarked that the party high command takes decisions as per its strategy, assigning responsibilities based on need and timing. She urged party members awaiting positions to remain patient.
She further stated that she had always prioritized work over personal aspirations and had chosen to speak only after receiving an opportunity. Now that she had been entrusted with a role, she was prepared to contribute actively.
Highlighting the structured functioning of Congress, Vijayashanti stressed that all leaders must align with the party’s principles. She reiterated the party’s commitment to addressing public concerns and implementing welfare schemes aimed at the state’s development.
