Hyderabad: Hyderabad Police Commissioner Kothakota Srinivas Reddy reported a 2% increase in the crime rate for 2023 compared to the previous year, releasing the annual crime report within the Hyderabad city commissionerate limits. Murders decreased, but real estate-related crimes rose by three percent. A total of 24,821 FIRs were filed, with robberies increasing by 9%, crimes against women by 12%, and rapes by 19%. However, crimes against children saw a 12% reduction from the previous year.
Various cases resulted in a loss of Rs 38 crore, with 75% of the lost property recovered. The year saw 79 murders, 242 cases of rape and kidnapping, 4,909 cheating incidents, 2,637 road accidents, 262 attempted murders, and 91 thefts.
