CM Chandrababu cautions change of Governments Every Five Years Harms Development

In a way questioning the fundamental concept of democracy that gives scope for a change of government frequently, Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu cautioned that if governments change every five years, development will be harmed.

‘‘After the bifurcation of the state, we laid a foundation. The government changed before it reached a certain level. The YSRCP government that came later razed that foundation with its destructive rule. Now we have to start from zero again. If our government had continuity, Andhra Pradesh would have already been at a very high level,’’ he said.

After returning from Davos, he spoke to the party MLAs and MPs who had come to meet him at his home for a while. ‘‘This morning I met Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. I asked her to prepare a report card comparing how the states with continuity of governments are developing… and how the development is in the places where the governments are changing”, he said.

He expressed hope that such a report will give some understanding to the people. “We were able to show good progress after ten years in the combined AP. We did not get such an opportunity in Andhra Pradesh after the bifurcation. If the central government prepares an analysis of how the entire country is doing, not just our state, the people will understand better. It is necessary to make people aware of such issues,” he added.

He expressed satisfaction that the Davos meetings were held well and that the state was successfully marketed. He said that he saw Indians holding prominent positions in many large companies, and that Indians are growing well in big companies in the USA and Europe by adapting themselves to the conditions there.

Stating that several big company delegates are going to visit the state soon, the Chief Minister asked the officials of the relevant departments to be prepared for this. “I held discussions in Davos with officials of companies related to infrastructure, maritime hub, AI University, global capability centers, data centers, food processing sector, core engineering, manufacturing sector, pharmaceutical sector, renewable energy, e-commerce, research and education sector. We should work diligently to make these a reality in the next six months,” he told the officials.

He made some suggestions on the steps to be taken in this direction. He expressed satisfaction with the discussions held with CEOs of big companies and other dignitaries. Chandrababu instructed the officials to maintain constant contact with these companies, find out their needs, prepare proposals accordingly and send them, and not to let up until the investment proposals are implemented.
