BRS MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha has accused the ruling Congress of targeting her party leaders, stating that BRS will maintain a “Pink Book” to document such actions and ensure payback upon returning to power. She alleged that even minor comments on social media against the government are prompting police action, claiming that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy is fearful of dissent.
Kavitha criticized the Congress, stating that while Rahul Gandhi upholds the Constitution, Revanth Reddy is disregarding it. She emphasized that BRS has learned from Professor Jayashankar how to document injustices and mobilize movements, warning that the party will retaliate when it returns to power. She assured party workers of BRS’s full support.
Congress Failed to Ensure BC Bill Implementation, Says Kavitha
Kavitha accused the Congress government of merely forwarding the BC Bill to the Centre instead of taking decisive action. She demanded that the Telangana Assembly introduce three separate bills, one granting 46% reservations in education, another providing 46% reservations in government jobs, and a third ensuring 42% reservations in local body elections.
She reminded the Congress of its promise to implement 42% political reservations for BCs in local body polls and urged the government to introduce a bill accordingly. Stressing the need for immediate action, she stated that reservations would only be enforceable if the bill was passed and notifications were issued without delay, warning against legal challenges due to procedural lapses.
Kavitha credited BRS-led agitations for pressuring the government to announce the BC Bill, calling it a victory for the BC community. She also acknowledged the government’s decision to allow another opportunity for caste enumeration but suggested extending the process by a month for better participation.
