It is interesting that the Chief Ministers of both Telangana and Karnataka have not attended the Congress Party Working Committee (CWC) meeting held in Delhi on Friday, with the recent elections as the main agenda. It is said that neither of them have received invitations from the AICC.
Initially, Revanth Reddy received an invitation from the AICC. With this, he was ready to go to Delhi without holding any official programs in the state. But the unexpected call to Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka in his place is causing a stir in Gandhi Bhavan circles.
It is learnt that the high command believes that the Congress governance in Telangana and Karnataka is also a reason for the defeat of the Congress alliance in Maharashtra. Both the Telangana and Karnataka governments have completely failed to implement the guarantees they had promised.
The Congress alliance has announced similar guarantees in Maharashtra as well. It is reported that the high command has come to an assessment that the announcement of these guarantees has hurt the alliance and that the expected results have not been achieved.
The Congress believes that there was opposition among the people against the ruling alliance, but they have failed to shape it in their favor. There has been a debate in Congress circles about what will happen if the Chief Ministers of Telangana and Karnataka say no to such a crucial meeting?
Nagpur, Gadchiroli, Chandrapur, Gondia in the Vidarbha region, Nanded, Parbhani, Wardha and other districts in the Marathwada region are bordering Telangana. CM Revanth Reddy campaigned in these same districts. Except in one constituency where he campaigned, the Congress party did not win anywhere else. The Congress party’s strategy behind sidelining Revanth Reddy as if his advice was not needed while the reasons for the defeat were being assessed has become a topic of discussion in political circles.
Not only Revanth Reddy, but also Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah was not invited to the meetings. It is learnt that from Karnataka also Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar attended instead.
However, party sources are trying to clarify that there were no issues related to the state on the agenda of the AICC meeting and that Bhatti, who played a key role in the Jharkhand assembly elections, was invited to provide advice and suggestions in government formation there.
