The first meeting of the AP Cabinet held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Monday, has decided the process of Mega DSC from July 1. It will be completed by December 10. The cabinet decided to re-name YSR University of Health Sciences as NTR University of Health Sciences. During YS Jagan’s regime the university name was changed from NTR to YSR.
The Cabinet has approved five key decisions on which the Chief Minister signed on the first day of taking charge at the Secretariat. They include filling of 16,347 posts by Mega DSC, enhancement of pensions named `NTR Bharosa’ from Rs 3,000 to Rs 4,000, repeal of the Land Titling Act, renovation of Anna canteens and Skill Census.
It has decided to pay an enhanced pension amount, along with arrears, will be distributed to 65 lakh pension beneficiaries, each Rs 7,000 at once on July 1. It decided to make suitable provisions in the forthcoming Budget to be presented in the assembly later next month towards key poll promises `Super Six’.
Following Chandrababu Naidu’s visit to Polavaram project and Amaravati last week, the cabinet discussed the status of these projects and avenues to raise funds to complete these on priority. The Chief Minister has given direction for the preparation of a full budget, to be presented by July-end.
The details of the registrations of assigned lands during the previous government have also been brought before the cabinet. The Chief Minister has made several suggestions for the ministers to increase their grip on their departments.
It seems that the cabinet has decided on key issues like raising funds for the rehabilitation of various corporations, incentives for industries, development of Visakhapatnam as a financial capital, implementation of the protection law for BCs announced in the elections, setting up of fast track courts for the settlement of various cases, new education system and free sand.
The cabinet, which met for three and a half hours, took key decisions that will determine the future of the state. After the cabinet meeting, the CM directed the ministers on political issues. The tradition of holding a cabinet meeting once in every 15 days, twice a month, which was practiced during the previous TDP regime, will be restored.
