After 17 years, a sequel to Rajinikanth’s iconic horror thriller Chandramukhi is going to release this September 15th. Titled Chandramukhi 2, the film has Raghava Lawrence and Kangana Ranaut in the lead roles.
The theatrical trailer of Chandramukhi 2 came out just a while ago and it hints that the sequel is going to be a wholesome entertainer with a blend of action and horror. Raghava Lawrence as King Vettayain looks a little odd, but Kangana Ranaut as Chandramukhi is a fitting replacement who can match the acting mettle of Jyothika from the first part.
Unlike the first part, Chandramukhi 2 has more commercial elements like action, drama and romance. The strange happenings in a room of Chandramukhi palace are once again the driving factor for the story. Vadivelu is back in an entertaining role and Rao Ramesh plays a pivotal role along with Radhika Sharat Kumar.
The trailer presents all significant characters in the story and also showcases the eerie incidents inside the building briefly. The familiar setting is evident in every frame.
How well director P. Vasu builds up the tension and keeps the viewers hooked to his narration without the presence of Rajinikanth will define the outcome of this sequel.
MM Keeravani does a fine job with his rendition and the camerawork is first-rate. Lyca Productions has infused a solid budget into the making of this horror thriller as every frame looks appealing.
All in all, the trailer manages to catch the attention despite its formulaic set-up. Chandramukhi 2 is slated for release on September 15th.
