USA BO : Kushi continues blockbuster run

While the domestic collections are a little underwhelming, the overseas numbers for Vijay Devarakonda and Samantha starrer Kushi are very impressive in the first weekend. In North America (USA and Canada), the film is all set to emerge as a blockbuster by entering into the profit zone by Monday.

After embarking on a strong start with $ 470K from Thursday premieres, which is the second-best opening for Vijay after Liger, Kushi is performing very well on all days of the weekend. The Shiva Nirvana directional added a solid haul to its tally on Friday with $ 360K gross.

Continuing its strong run, the romantic entertainer breached the million-dollar mark with another $ 300K ( more to be added). The total gross now stands close to $ 1.15 Million. By the end of Sunday, the film is likely to surpass the $ 1.3 million mark and it is likely to break even by Monday.

This is the fourth million-dollar film for Vijay Devarakonda after Pelli Choopulu, Arjun Reddy and Geetha Govindham. Samantha has featured in 17 million-dollar films so far which is a big achievement for a heroine.

Despite a wafer-thin storyline and slow narration, Kushi managed to receive decent reviews and good word of mouth in USA. So, the film managed to receive terrific patronage from the Telugu diaspora.
