Even as the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) transitions into opposition after the 2024 general elections, one name still rings loudly in political circles — Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy. Admittedly the party’s master strategist, Sajjala’s stature is not shaken but actually has only intensified, and his position in the party has only become stronger.
During YSRCP’s rule, Sajjala was the point person of then Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, serving as his confidant and acting as a pivot to coordinate governance across departments. Even today, when the party is moving to the opposition, he is still carrying important responsibilities.
In a sudden rise, Sajjala has been appointed as the Convener of YSRCP’s new Political Advisory Committee (PAC) — a team of 33 top leaders tasked with planning the party’s politics in the days to come. The appointment strengthens his position as the party’s second most influential leader, just behind Jagan Mohan Reddy, who remains the party president.
Although YSRCP has a few designated posts like regional coordinators, general secretaries, and spokespeople, none of them compare to the seriousness of Sajjala’s new designation. Being both the State Political Coordinator and PAC Convener, he now enjoys broad powers to manage political planning, coordination, and decision-making at the top level.
Remarkably, a few of the PAC list skips out certain key figures such as Ambati Rambabu, Bhumana Karunakar Reddy, Perni Nani, and Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy, hinting towards an intended change within the internal workings of the party. Meanwhile, each of the regional coordinators have been mentioned as permanent invitees for the committee, establishing further relevance for ground-level coordination.
With this new leadership arrangement, Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy is the key force now piloting the party’s agenda in its oppositional role. Post Jagan, it’s amply Sajjala who is piloting the ship, maintaining the party’s vision and strategy for the future.
