Senior YSR Congress Party leader and former Chandragiri MLA Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy is reportedly in police custody. He was reportedly stopped by the police at the Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru as he was preparing to leave for a foreign country. The SIT has already issued lookout notices against him in the liquor case.
In this context, the police reached there after receiving information that Chevireddy was coming to the Bengaluru airport and stopped him. He is likely to be taken to the SIT office in Vijayawada later. It is said that he was taken into custody in the wake of an altercation that took place at the Podili police station in Prakasam district.
Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy got into an altercation with Podili CI Venkateswarlu. It is noteworthy that the SIT, which is investigating the liquor scam during the YSRCP regime, recently went to Tirupati again for investigation based on additional information received. The SIT officials have been in Tirupati for almost two days and are investigating the liquor scam.
They are also investigating the involvement of Chevireddy in the liquor scam. In addition, the SIT officials have already questioned Giri, who previously worked as a gunman for Chevireddy. Along with this, the SIT officials have also kept an eye on the movements of Chevireddy’s close associates. There is a possibility that more facts will be known if Chevireddy’s close associates are questioned.
The SIT went to Tirupati in April this year to investigate the liquor scam case. On the 11th of this month, during the Podili tour conducted by YSRCP chief and former Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy, several leaders and activists of the TDP were reported to have thrown stones and slippers at his car. YSRCP activists tried to stop them.
On this occasion, a clash took place between the activists of the two parties. In this case, the police arrested about 15 YSRCP activists. When Chevireddy went to Podili police station to meet them, the police stopped him there. CI Venkateshwarlu explained that he was not allowed to meet the accused in the police station.
