The conflict between TDP and YSRCP is intensifying, with TDP initiating a demolition drive targeting prime lands across 26 districts where YSRCP is allegedly constructing buildings without proper documents or permissions. The TDP claims that crores have been spent on building YSRCP offices during Jagan Mohan Reddy’s tenure as Chief Minister, using money taken from the poor. They allege that each YSRCP office building costs between 15 to 20 crores, featuring luxurious interiors and furnishings, with the total expenditure nearing 2,000 crores. Nara Lokesh, son of Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and a minister in the cabinet, questioned Jagan Mohan Reddy, asking if he thinks Andhra Pradesh is his grandfather’s property. Despite a court order for a stay, TDP justifies the demolitions by claiming the buildings were constructed without proper documentation, dubbing them illegal.
Jagan Mohan Reddy has accused TDP of Vendetta politics. Just a few days ago, a YSRCP party office in Tadepalli was demolished by the ruling government. The CDA overseeing the demolition pointed out the lack of proper documentation for these YSRCP offices. TDP claims that over 42 acres of land, worth roughly 33 crores, have been used to build these offices across 26 districts, alleging that these lands were leased for a nominal amount of 1,000 rupees per acre annually.
In addition to the lavish 5,500 crore apartment in Tadepalli, intended to be the Chief Minister’s camp office once Jagan Mohan Reddy shifts there, YSRCP party offices are under construction in several districts. Nara Lokesh has taken to Twitter, questioning Jagan Mohan Reddy’s ruling as if Andhra Pradesh is his personal property. YSRCP, however, calls this Vendetta politics, accusing TDP of taking revenge, arguing that the constructions are illegal and TDP has the right to demolish them.
