The murder case of former Andhra Pradesh minister YS Vivekananda Reddy has been lingering unresolved for six years, with the CBI investigation moving at a frustratingly slow pace. Concerns about political interference and external pressures have been mounting, raising questions about the delays. Despite earlier directions and warnings from the Supreme Court, the CBI’s progress remains unsatisfactory. In her latest move to find justice for her father, Sunitha Reddy, the daughter of YS Vivekananda Reddy, has dragged the case into the Telangana High Court.
In the petition, she has sought from the court an explicit order asking the CBI to complete the investigation within six months. She has also appealed to the Hyderabad CBI court to hold everyday hearings so that the trial is over quickly and without any delay in dishing out justice. She brought up the issue saying that nearly four years have passed since the case was shifted to the CBI court, and during that time, not much has happened. The Telangana High Court has admitted her petition for review and is set to address the matter.
One notable aspect of her petition is the inclusion of the CBI as a respondent, alongside six accused individuals. This move has sparked discussion, as Sunitha was instrumental in initially seeking a CBI probe into her father’s murder. The High Court has now granted permission to issue notices to the CBI and the accused, while adjourning the case for four weeks. The court is expected to make a decision on Sunitha’s plea after further hearings.
