Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee ( APCC) Chief, YS Sharmila seems to be very desperate to upset the plans of her brother and the current Chief Minister of the state, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy in every possible way. Ever since she joined the Congress party, Sharmila has been waging an intense political battle with her brother in all aspects. Besides launching a scathing tirade against Jagan Mohan Reddy’s government, she attacked him personally as well.
Now, Sharmila is all set to take on YS Avinash Reddy in the upcoming elections. It is a known fact that Jagan Mohan Reddy once again nominated Avinash as the candidate of YSRCP for the Kadapa Parliament segment. This blatant choice by Jagan became a talking point among political circles because he has been accused of protecting Avinash who was one of the suspects who orchestrated the plan to kill Vivekananda Reddy.
Sharmila has reportedly decided to checkmate her brother Jagan Mohan Reddy by contesting as Kadapa MP on behalf of Congress. In January, Vivekananda’s daughter Sunitha met Sharmila and held discussions for about two hours. Reports emerged that Sharmila extended moral support to Sunitha and also invited her into the party. This triggered speculations that Sunitha might be fielded as an opponent for Avinash Reddy.
But, the latest reports suggest that Sharmila’s name has been finalized by the Congress high command to vie against Avinash Reddy for Kadapa MP. The first list of Congress is expected to come out shortly.
The NDA-led alliance is yet to announce its candidate for this segment. It would be interesting to see who will join the fray and whether Sharmila can thwart Avinash Reddy from retaining the seat.
