Andhra Pradesh PCC President YS Sharmila stood up for her sister-in-law YS Bharathi Reddy after ITDP supporter Chebrolu Kiran made derogatory remarks about her on social media. Though Sharmila and YS Jagan Mohan Reddy as well as Bharathi have had their share of differences on issues related to family property, she did not shy away from speaking up for Bharathi against public character assassination.
Taking to social media, Sharmila condemned the remarks as not just inappropriate but utterly shameful and compared them to extremist behavior. She called the language used against Bharathi “deeply disturbing” and unfit for any civilized society.
She also slammed the YouTube channel that shared the video, accusing it of encouraging toxic content just to chase views and online engagement. “Such filthy comments and those who promote them for entertainment must face strict legal consequences,” Sharmila stated firmly.
Being a woman, Sharmila underlined that all political parties—particularly the ruling coalition—should stand up strongly against personal remarks and online harassment. She underlined that party loyalty would never be an alibi for the action of humiliating others, particularly women.
Sharmila didn’t shy away from holding both the YSRCP and TDP accountable, accusing them of nurturing an online culture filled with hate, vulgarity, and personal slander. “These two parties have created a dangerous atmosphere where character assassination has become a norm,” she alleged.
Expressing her deep concern, she pointed out how political rivalries have reached a disturbing low, with even children and families being dragged into public mudslinging. “This isn’t just dirty politics anymore—this is a complete moral collapse,” she said.
