Former Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy is to remake his party entirely after the electoral debacle and is now choosing district coordinators. These are all part of his resurgent plans for his party:.
YV Subba Reddy, who had been in-charge of Uttarandhra earlier, was shifted to Rayalaseema region, where he would work on the ground as the incharge of Kadapa, Anantapur, and Kurnool districts. The three districts, considered traditional fortresses of the party, had taken a beating in the recently concluded elections. So, Jagan has deputed Subba Reddy for the job. Also, the parliamentary party leader Subba Reddy will assume the serious responsibilities.
Similarly, in such instances, while Vijay Sai Reddy was in charge for Uttarandhra earlier, he has once again been bestowed with the assignment of Visakhapatnam region. Besides, he has also been entrusted to take care of Srikakulam district. This assignment speaks of Jagan’s confidence in getting support from Vijay Sai Reddy for strengthening the party’s vigor in the said regions.
Member Alla Ayodhya Ramireddy has been appointed as the new regional coordinator for Krishna district. It’s reflective of the fact that Jagan focuses only on key areas. Former minister and Opposition Leader in the Legislative Council, Botsa Satyanarayana, has been given the significant responsibility of managing both East and West Godavari districts and also managing Vizianagaram affairs.
Another marked change is that MP Mithun Reddy, who was in charge of the Godavari districts, has now been appointed as the regional coordinator for Guntur and Prakasam districts, where the opposition has been strong. This clearly points out to Jagan’s strategic measures in assigning veteran leaders to politically sensitive regions.
These restructuring decisions by Jagan form part of his larger efforts at reviving the party after its losses, where some senior leaders were strategically placed in key districts. These changes would be of great interest to see how the fortunes of the party will shape up under this new leadership structure.
