Former Chief Minister and YCP chief YS Jaganmohan Reddy, who was confident of continuing his regime in the state for over three decades, seems to be in a desperate mood after in his own Kadapa district, which was considered to be fortress to his family domination, his party was defeated in all, but two assembly seats in recent polls.
During the last five years of his government, he was hardly seen in his native place Pulivendala, except during birth anniversary, death anniversary and Christmas celebrations. But after his defeat, he is seen very frequently, almost every month in Idupulapaya and Pulivendula.
Soon after reaching his place on a three-day visit on Tuesday afternoon, he said to be upset with the deep rooted factionalism within his own party leadership in Jammalamadugu, known as a stronghold for his family. Here former MLA Sudhir Reddy and MLC Ramasubba Reddy are not in talking terms.
He held a panchayat to console them and persuade them to work unitedly for the party keeping in view the present crisis the party is facing after formation of TDP-led coalition government. Moreover, his party leaders are upset with the property row between Jagan and his sister YS Sharmila. The row became complicated after his mother YS Vijayamma also swung into the issue openly extending her sympathies and support towards daughter Sharmila.
Sudheer Reddy worked as a hardcore activist in Jagan’s party and won as MLA. After YCP came to power in 2019, Ramasubba Reddy joined YCP. But both the leaders were unable to see face to face. Sudhir Reddy, who was defeated in the recent polls is the incharge for the constituency. A year ago only Ramasubba Reddy was made as an MLC, expecting he would work along with sudheer Reddy for the party.
Recently, Jagan has received complaints about the behavior of former MLA Sudhir Reddy. Regarding the in-charge of Jammalamadugu, the YCP leaders of the district had a meeting under the chairmanship of the district president Rabindranath Reddy ten days ago.
It is reported that the matter of changing the in-charge was discussed in that meeting but the decision was left to Jagan. After long discussions with both the groups in Idupulapaya, Jagan advised each one to be incharge of three mandals each in the constituency.
But, Jagan said to be shocked after Sudheer Reddy became angry and walked out from there without any response to his formula. YCP leaders were worried as Jagan’s interference also failed to resolve the Jammalamadugu row.
