While the supporters of YSR Congress party are yet to come out of the shocking results in the recent assembly elections of Andhra Pradesh, former Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy appears to be distraught and deeply disturbed at the humiliation meted out by the voters despite rolling out several cash-transfer schemes in the last five years. His party faced a historic defeat in the hands of the NDA alliance and lost the opposition status.
Interestingly, YS Jagan’s initial reaction on seeing the election results on June 4th was revealed a bit late to the media. During his recent meeting with his party leaders, Jagan has reportedly informed that he was very upset seeing the unexpected setback in the elections. “At one point of time, I wanted to quit politics and go to Himalayas after seeing the results ” commented Jagan during one his interactions with partymen.
It took three days for Jagan to come out of the shock from the elections results. But, he recovered slowly and started introspection on the reasons for the humiliating defeat, said a close leader of YSRCP.
Despite winning only 11 assembly seats out of 175, the only thing that gave some hope for Jagan and his party to make a comeback in future is the vote share of 40 percent. This is why Jagan wanted to stay back without quitting and fight for those who voted to his party. He has reportedly told his supporters and followers to come out of the disappointment and work hard for the party.
Immediately after taking oath as MLA, Jagan embarked on a three day tour to his home turf Pulivendula and met thousands of his supporters. Later, he went to his residence in Bengaluru.
