Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has said to be serious about Vijayawada Police wrongful detention of Bollywood Actress Kadambari Jethwani, filing a false case during the previous government, in which two IPS officers were involved. He has ordered a thorough probe into the incident.
The government’s swift action comes in the wake of allegations that several IPS officers were involved in the incident. It was alleged that the IPS officials were involved unusually due to directions from some top YCP leaders.
Responding to the directions of the Chief Minister, Vijayawada Police Commissioner Rajasekhar Babu has appointed ACP Sravanti Roy to personally investigate the case and submit a detailed report soon. She has reportedly spoken to Kadambari over telephone. She also requested Kadambari to be present in Vijayawada on Friday facilitating them to record her statement.
“We have appointed an officer named Sravanti Roy for the investigation. We will talk to the victim and get full details. We will inquire why the entire family along with the actress was arrested in the cheating case. The investigation will reveal the extent of who’s role that day. This inquiry will be completed in four to five days. In this whole case we will collect evidence from all angles with technology. It will be submitted to the DGP in the form of a report”, said CP Rajasekhar Babu.
She was arrested by Vijayawada police in Mumbai on February 2 this year, on the basis of a complaint by YCP leader Kukkala Vidyasagar Rao with the Ibrahimpatnam police alleging that Kadambari Jethwani blackmailed him, threatened me and get registered his land, for which reportedly some fake documents were cleared.
But in fact, the document which seems to have been written in 2018 carrying the address of Kadambari,s residence in Juhu, Mumbai, which was bought by her in 2020. Moreover, the stamp paper was purchased from the stamp vendor in 2023. Kadambari is asking what more proof is needed to prove that the case filed against her by the AP police is false.
Meanwhile, she reported to Juhu Police Station, Mumbai on August 1, alleging that Vijayawada police had tortured her, illegally detained and a false case was registered against her. The entire episode is creating tremors among senior police circles.
