Ex-YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) leader Vijayasai Reddy, who was a close associate of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, has made some shocking revelations about his exit from politics and his strained relationship with the party. His revelations have come at a time when he is facing legal scrutiny in the Kakinada Port shares transfer case. After his recent appearance before CID, Vijayasai Reddy spoke to the media in Vijayawada about why he left politics and how he increasingly became disillusioned with YSRCP.
Jagan Mohan Reddy is No Longer the Leader I Knew
Vijayasai Reddy shared that his connection with Jagan’s family was for over three decades, and he was instrumental in shaping the party. But he accused Jagan of having transformed hugely over the years and no longer being the chief minister he had admired. For him, only a privileged few insiders now influence Jagan’s decisions, and there is no direct access to him. He accused this “coterie” of filtering information so that only those whose interests are favorable reach the chief minister. Feeling disillusioned and frustrated with these trends, he gradually lost confidence in Jagan’s leadership. Vijayasai Reddy, who had stood by Jagan thick and thin earlier, now declares that his faith is only with Lord Venkateswara.
Why Vijayasai Reddy Walked Away from Politics
Prior to officially walking away from YSRCP, Vijayasai Reddy asserted that he made an attempt to contact Jagan, who was abroad in London at the time, and express concerns regarding party problems within. But he claimed Jagan rejected his reservations outright. Though Jagan attempted to convince him to remain, Vijayasai Reddy said that he was rather accused of being controlled by outside powers. Refuting such allegations, he asserted his decision to resign was irretrievable and that he had no plans to move to any other political party.
Jagan’s Future in Politics: A Warning from Vijayasai Reddy
Vijayasai Reddy made a dire prediction for Jagan’s political future, stating that the CM needs to move away from the people holding him hostage if he wants to win back people’s trust. Otherwise, in his opinion, Jagan’s political life could be severely hampered. Holding key positions within the party, Vijayasai Reddy stated that he faced relentless humiliation—something only he knows. He underscored that a leader must hear out his party workers and the people rather than depend on a few close friends. In addition, he charged some of Jagan’s close associates with actively conspiring against him and orchestrating his ouster from major posts in YSRCP.
No Plans to Join BJP or Take Up Governor Role
Reacting to speculation that he could join the BJP or accept a Governor’s role, Vijayasai Reddy categorically rejected the speculations. He reiterated that his exit from politics is irreversible and that he now concentrates on personal activities, including farming. Reacting to criticism over his participation in farming—where some doubted how he could be a farmer dressed up—he threw such comments into the trash as being ancient stereotypes. Farming, he said, is about dedication and effort, not about what one wears.
Vijayasai Reddy’s revelations have sent shockwaves through Andhra Pradesh’s political landscape, raising serious questions about the leadership dynamics within YSRCP. With his exit, the political equation in the state is bound to shift, and all eyes are now on Jagan Mohan Reddy to see how he responds to these allegations.
