Gandhi Bhavan sources are saying that the Telangana Mahila Congress has split into two factions. While State Mahila Congress President Sunita Rao is trying to preserve the existence of her leadership,TPCC chief Mahesh Kumar Goud, who is unable to form his own executive committee so far, is reportedly attempting to keep the Mahila Congress affairs under his control.
It is alleged that Goud is encouraging his own faction within the Mahila Congress opposing Sunita Rao. Ignoring Sunita Rao and her associates, he has reportedly promoted his own followers, giving positions to his own relatives. It is known that the issue became heated with the dharnas and counter-dharnas held by Mahila Congress leaders at Gandhi Bhavan last week.
Alleging that the TPCC president is giving positions to his relatives in nominated posts and in the PCC executive committee without giving priority to senior women leaders, Sunita Rao led a dharna in front of the TPCC chamber in Gandhi Bhavan last week. She alleged that Mahesh Kumar Goud is giving positions only to his sisters, daughters-in-law and relatives.
The next day, it became interesting to see some women from Goshamahal constituency raising slogans against Sunita Rao also sat on the steps of Gandhi Bhavan and staged a dharna. They shouted slogans like ‘Sunita Rao Hathao.. Mahila Congress Bachao’. They alleged that the party was being harmed by her. It is learnt that they had written letters to the party leaders demanding action against her.
In this context, the party high command issued a show cause notice to Sunita Rao. The Congress high command condemned the comments made against TPCC chief Mahesh Goud and the dharna at Gandhi Bhavan. The National Mahila Congress has sought an explanation from her on the notice within 7 days.
Sunita Rao’s faction is furious over these show cause notices. When two factions staged dharnas at Gandhi Bhavan, her faction leaders are questioning why only Sunita Rao was given a notice? They are demanding action against the leaders who are promoting factions within the Mahila Congress.
