Small film Samajavaragamana has proved that content is the king. The light-hearted comedy-drama is pulling impressive numbers at the box office, courtesy of strong word of mouth and unanimous reviews. After taking a moderate start, the film gained immense strength towards the weekend and registered solid numbers in all territories of its release. Despite facing competition from Nikhil’s Spy, Samajavaragamana is going great guns all over.
In USA, Samajavaragamana is set for a solid first weekend. The Sree Vishnu starrer saw a steady increase in footfalls each day after opening with a $ 27K from Wednesday premieres. On Thursday and Friday, the film notched up $ 46K and $ 72K respectively. On Saturday, Samajavaragamana witnessed a further uptick in collections with more than $ 100K to breach the quarter-a-million mark. It is likely to outperform Nikhil’s Spy in the full run.

Meanwhile, Nikhil’s Spy slowed down in USA after taking a solid start with career-best premieres of $ 165K, an opening which is 50% more than his previous highest. The numbers saw a considerable drop on Thursday and Friday with $68K and $ 41K respectively due to discouraging reviews. On Saturday, there is a further fall with only $ 35K gross. The total, however, has surpassed the $ 300 K mark. Considering the way his previous film Karthikeya-2 performed in USA, this is a disappointing run for Nikhil.
