USA BO: ‘Samajavaragamana’ overtakes ‘Spy’ to emerge as blockbuster

Sree Vishnu starrer Samajavaragamana emerged as a clean hit at the USA Box Office after the end of the first weekend. The light-hearted comedy drama took an unassailable lead over Nikhil Siddhartha’s Spy due to the glowing word of mouth and unanimous reviews. Spy has lost steam after taking a great start because of the underwhelming reviews.

As of this writing, Samajavaragamana added another $ 100K on Sunday to its tally to take the total past $ 350K to be termed a blockbuster by trade circles. This is the biggest grosser in Sree Vishnu’s career. The rib-tickling comedy coupled with family drama turned out to be the unique selling point for the film which resulted in terrific numbers in all territories. Though it started on a moderate note, the film gained solid momentum with each passing day to end the weekend with promising revenues. It is likely to extend its strong run as there are a couple of holidays in USA in the coming days.

As Samajavaragamana gained the upper hand, the footfalls for Spy saw a steep decline towards the weekend. On Sunday, the film collected around $ 20K to end the weekend on an average note.
