While Telugu films are having a tough time at the box office, a few recent Malayalam movies have emerged as blockbusters in USA. Bollywood big-budget action saga Fighter surpassed another milestone and Article 370 managed to gross decent numbers in the just concluded weekend.

Varun Tej’s aerial spectacle Operation Valentine failed to take off well due to disappointing reviews. Despite commendable performances and patriotic subject, the film didn’t show any impact on the box office as it struggled to collect $ 100K in the first weekend.

Vennela Kishore’s comedy caper Chaari 111 also didn’t create any magic due to its monotonous narration and uninteresting drama. The film collected a paltry $ 20K in USA. Another slapstick entertainer Sundaram Master too didn’t draw the attention of moviegoers much and ended less than $ 80K gross. Spooky thriller Bhoothaddam Narayana will end as a disaster with $ 12K gross.

Meanwhile, Malayalam films are having a dream run in USA. Blockbuster survival thriller Manjummel Boys packed a solid punch during the weekend and collected $ 620K gross. It is likely to emerge as the highest-grossing Mallu film of all time. Other hit films Premalu and Bramayugam also notched up terrific figures with $ 450K and $ 330K respectively.

Hrithik Roshan’s Fighter amassed $ 7.5 Million and emerged as the biggest grosser of Bollywood this year. Article 370 collected close to $ 750K by the end of the weekend.
