USA BO: Jawan soars high, MSMP turns big hit

Indian films performed exceptionally well in North America during the last weekend. While Bollywood Baadshah Shah Rukh Khan’s latest blockbuster Jawan plundered close to $ 7.5 Million in four days, Tollywood’s romantic entertainer Miss Shetty Mr Polishetty gained strong momentum towards the weekend to post solid gross in four days including Wednesday premieres.

Atlee directional Jawan once again proved that Shah Rukh Khan is the biggest box puller among Indian actors as it shattered numerous existing records during the first weekend. Shah Rukh outdone himself as Jawan registered better numbers than his previous film Pathaan in all territories.

Jawan grossed $ 1.3 million on Thursday and added another $ 1.7 million on Friday. With Saturday’s single day highest of $ 2.4 million, the film breached into the $ 5 million club. On Sunday, it is likely to add another $ 2 million gross to take the overall tally past $ 7.5 million mark. It is eyeing the full run of Pathaan which grossed $ 17.5 million in its full run.

Telugu romantic entertainer Miss Shetty Mr Polishetty emerged as blockbuster with its stupendous run in the first weekend. After a good start from Wednesday premieres with $ 193K, the film went on to perform beyond expectations as collections surged well on all days. On Saturday, the film amassed a phenomenal $ 300K and surprised the trade circles. On Sunday, it is likely to add another $ 175K and take the overall gross close to $ 1.1 million.
