Kannada star Upendra has reportedly signed on for a high-budget pan-India Telugu film to be directed by Paper Boy fame Jayashankar. Sources close to the project revealed that the actor was recently approached by the director with a compelling script, to which he has given his nod.
Upendra, who earned popularity among Telugu audiences through dubbed versions of his directorial films, later acted in straight Telugu movies such as Kanyadanam, Oke Maata, S/O Satyamurthy, and Ghani. His performances have garnered him a strong fan base in the Telugu states.
The actor is currently playing a key role in Andhra King, starring Ram in the lead. The new project, reportedly being planned on a pan-India scale, is expected to be made with a budget of approximately ₹100 crore. Further details about the cast, production house, and shooting schedule are likely to be announced soon.
