The AP government in its efforts to intensify the police investigations into several irregularities and violent attacks that took place during previous YS Jaganmohan Reddy’s regime, has handed over two key cases to the AP CID. In these cases, several key YCP leaders were named as accused.
The cases are related to the attack on TDP central office in Mangalagiri and attack on Chandrababu Naidu’s residence by YCP leaders and their followers. Presently, police at Mangalagiri and Tadepalli are investigating these cases.
Recently, the state government has issued an order transferring these two cases to CID. Mangalagiri DSP will hand over the investigation files to the CID on Monday (October 14). In view of the seriousness of these two cases, the government has recently reportedly taken this decision intending to catch the `master mind’ before these two cases.
While YSRCP was in power, on October 19, 2021, mobs belonging to that party attacked the office of TDP. The followers of YSRCP leaders Devineni Avinash, Lella Appi Reddy and the then Mangalagiri MLA Alla Ramakrishna Reddy attacked the office. They destroyed furniture and attacked some staff members also.
During the YCP regime a case was booked with some casual sections, but no action was taken. Soon after the formation of Chandrababu Naidu government the case was streamlined, including a section on `attempt to murder’.
On the other hand, in the attack on Chandrababu Naidu’s residence, the police established the presence of former minister Jogi Ramesh, besides some others. The police arrested Nandigam Suresh and some other leaders.
However, Jogi Ramesh, Devineni Avinash and some others succeeded in obtaining anticipatory bail from the Supreme Court. However, the police have already interrogated the leaders involved in these cases. Former MP Nandigam Suresh has been arrested in the case of attack on TDP office.
Many leaders from Krishna and Guntur districts of YCP are involved in these two cases. Party key leader Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy has already approached the High Court. And, now that these two cases have been handed over to the CID, the YCP leaders, who are believed to be involved in it, have a noose on their necks.
