The by-election for the Secunderabad Cantonment Assembly seat is currently underway, prompted by the unfortunate passing of BRS MLA Lasya Nandita in a road accident. Vamsa Tilak has been announced as the BJP’s candidate for the seat. However, there is still uncertainty regarding the candidates from the major parties for this by-election. Dr. TN Vamsa Tilak, son of former minister Sadalakshmi and Padma Shri awardee TV Narayana, has been selected as the BJP’s candidate. With this announcement, the field of candidates for the Secunderabad Cantonment by-election has been clarified.
The Congress party has also announced its candidate. Sree Ganesh, who contested on a BJP ticket in the last elections and finished second, recently joined the Congress party. He was swiftly declared as a candidate upon joining the party.
The polling for the Cantonment Assembly constituency will coincide with the Lok Sabha elections on May 13. Following Sayanna’s passing, the cantonment ticket was transferred to his daughter Lasya Nanditha. Despite Lasya Nandita’s recent untimely death, K. Chandrasekhar Rao has once again chosen to allocate the ticket to Sayanna’s family. Additionally, Lasya Nandita’s sister, Nivedita, has been nominated by the BRS party. The finalization of Dr. TN Vamsa Tilak’s candidacy has generated anticipation among many BJP leaders, ultimately solidifying Tilak’s position as the party’s candidate.
