Tippiri Tirupati from Telangana has been appointed as the new CPI (Maoist) General Secretary. Another key leader Hidma has been given the charge of Bastar. Tippiri Tirupati alias Devji has been elected as the successor of CPI (Maoist) General Secretary Nambala Kesava Rao alias Basavaraj, who was killed in a joint operation in the forests of Narayanpur district of Bastar division of Chhattisgarh on May 21.

This Dalit leader from Korutla in Jagtial district of Telangana is a member of the party’s Politburo and the President of the Central Military Commission. On the other hand, Mandavi Hidma alias Santosh alias Hidmal, commander of the 1st Battalion, known as the ‘most effective unit’ of the armed forces’ PLGA (People’s Liberation Guerrilla Army), has been given the charge of the secretary of the organization’s Dandakaranya Special Zonal Committee.

The committee is responsible for preventing joint activities across the Bastar division of Chhattisgarh. This matter was revealed to the police after questioning Kamlesh, a Maoist central committee member who surrendered in Andhra Pradesh.

Dev’ji born to Tipiri Venkata Narasaiah and Gangubai, a native of Korutla, were born in Tirupati in 1966. He has three siblings. Akkaiah Leela settled in Hyderabad with her family. After the death of his elder brother Venkati, his wife Rajanarsu’s family currently lives in the house where he was born and raised in Tirupati. The younger brother Gangadhar’s family lives in Korutla.

Tirupati worked as the RSU president during his intermediate studies at the Korutla Government Junior College. Later, in 1983, he took degree admission in Karimnagar SRR College. In 1984, he was arrested by the police and sent to remand, but he went to meet Tirupati Advocate, who had returned home on bail, but has not returned yet.

It is reported that Tirupati got married to a tribal woman named Srujana, a Maoist district secretary from Chhattisgarh, in the Dal. She died in an encounter in the Gadgiroli area of Maharashtra during the Corona pandemic. It is reported that they, who were united in the Dal, did not have any children.

Meanwhile, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has filed a chargesheet against Hidma, the youngest member of the CPI (Maoist) central committee, in the 2019 murder case of BJP MLA Bhima Mandavi. A reward of Rs 40 lakh has also been announced for his information. But he is still missing.

During police interrogation, it was learnt that Kamlesh had said that they initially thought that Ramachandra Reddy alias Srinivas, the former head of the ‘Mobile Academic Political Organization School’, would be given the charge of the Dandakaranya zonal committee. But due to age and health, he did not get that responsibility in the end.
