The Revanth Reddy government recognized Andesri song ‘Jayajayahe Telangana’ as the state anthem of Telangana. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has assigned famous music director MM Keeravani to provide music for this song.
However, the Telangana Cine Musicians Association (TCMA) has written a letter to Chief Minister Revanth Reddy expressing objection assignment of such a song to a `non-Telangana’ musician. They said that such a move is not appropriate.
“The people of Telangana are very happy that you are going to announce and release the song written by Andeshri as Telangana State Anthem. Telangana artists are also very happy. This is a great occasion that our Telangana Cine Musicians Association (DCMA) is also proud of” they said.
They felt that ten years ago, it would have been great if the previous government had presented the Telangana State Anthem to the people. It would have been good. But, they deplored that it is unfortunate that it didn’t happen.
TCMA said in its letter that the previous government had made many mistakes regarding this song and expressed regret that this song had reached the people before the formation of the state and it is regrettable that the previous government did not pay attention to such a song. This song expresses the feeling that it has died in the hands of some Telangana politicians, it added.
“It is an auspicious moment that you are giving life to this song again. Thank you for keeping this song alive. Even if everything is fine, it would be a historical mistake to ask the music directors to give Keeravani music to such a great song” they cautioned.
“You are well aware about the existence of Telangana and ho, the movement took off with the slogan that we should get our jobs, we should get our opportunities. Our Telangana state was formed as a result of the sacrifices of many immortal heroes with the cooperation of all the people,” the letter reminded.
They wondered that why should the people of the neighboring states sing our national anthem, which is so famous? It deplored that doing so will mean insulting our Telangana artists. They said that the Telangana Cine Musician Association appealed to Chief Minister to understand their emotions and sentiments.
They asserted that there are many talented people in Telangana for this assignment and urged Revanth Reddy to provide this great opportunity to Telangana artists. They also expressed the opinion that if this Telangana state anthem is sung and released as a group song with Telangana children, it will remain in history away from controversies like the song ‘Maa Telugu Talliki Mallepudanda’.
