Telangana High Court Delivers Blow To Chennamaneni Ramesh

Monday, December 8, 2025

In a big breakthrough, the Telangana High Court has stated that former Vemulawada MLA Chennamaneni Ramesh is not an Indian citizen, affirming his German citizenship. The court made the ruling after Government Whip Aadi Srinivas lodged a petition questioning the nationality of Ramesh, claiming he had contested elections with false documents.

After a detailed hearing, the court came down strongly on Ramesh, stating that he intentionally submitted fake documents and misled authorities and courts for nearly 15 years. Upholding the Central Government’s earlier move to cancel his Indian citizenship, the High Court ruled that Ramesh had abused the legal process.

As part of its verdict, the court imposed a hefty ₹30 lakh fine on Chennamaneni Ramesh. Of this, ₹25 lakh must be paid to petitioner Aadi Srinivas and ₹5 lakh to the Legal Services Committee. Instead of challenging the decision further, Ramesh accepted the verdict and paid the full penalty, effectively acknowledging the allegations.

Reacting to the court’s decision, Aadi Srinivas said that justice had finally prevailed after a long 15-year legal battle. He expressed that if Ramesh hadn’t contested elections with fraudulent documents, he himself would’ve become the MLA over a decade ago.
