The Supreme Court of India has completely quashed the stay given by the Telangana High Court restricting the CBI from arresting Avinash Reddy until the 24th of this month. Terming the verdict of Telangana HC as atrocious and unacceptable, the Jury bench removed the stay and directed the CBI to proceed in its own way.
It is a known fact that the Hyderabad High Court issued a stay on CBI not to arrest Avinash Reddy until the 24th when the latter appealed for anticipatory bail. It also directed the CBI on how to interrogate and asked the officials to video and audio record Avinash Reddy. With this, the CBI had nothing to do except for waiting for the 24th in case they wish to arrest. Demised YS Vivekananda Reddy’s daughter Sunitha approached the Supreme Court of India filing a counter on the arrest stay. Chief Justice DY CHandrachud and Justice PS Narayana completely condemned the HC’s verdict and issued an immediate stay. It also asked the CBI to take their own action if needed and directed the officials to prepare a questionnaire and take the answers only in writing format.
Sunita won her case against the Hyderabad High Court’s verdict in the apex court of India. Everyone set their eyes on the CBI regarding their next step since they were almost given a free hand in the entire case.
