Amidst great fanfare and jubilation of thousands of party supporters and Delhi dignitaries, Anumula Revanth Reddy, the chief architect behind the resounding victory of INC in the recent assembly elections, took oath as the second Chief Minister of Telangana today afternoon in Hyderabad.
After Revanth was sworn in as CM, 11 other key personalities of his cabinet took oath as Ministers. Among those are Mallu Bhatti Vikaramarka, who was sworn in as Deputy Chief Minister, and former Telangana Congress chief N Uttam Kumar Reddy, among those who opposed Revanth Reddy’s choice as Chief Minister. The eight others to join the cabinet are Sridhar Babu, Ponnam Prabhakar, Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, Damodar Raja Narasimha, Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, Dana Anasuya, Tummala Nageswar Rao, Konda Surekha and Jupally Krishna Rao.
According to the latest reports, Uttam Kumar Reddy is honoured with the powerful portfolio of the Home Ministry in the state. Besides getting Deputy CM, Vikramarka will oversee the duties of the Revenue Minister. Senior leader Komati Reddy Venkat Reddy bagged Panchayat Ministry and Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy handed over the responsibility of the Irrigation department.
As speculated, Sridhar Babu is conferred with the crucial IT Ministry, which has been the cynosure of everyone after the exit of KTR from the BRS party. People’s leader Seethakka was allotted the Tribal Welfare Ministry and Jupalli Krishna Rao got the Civil Supplies Ministry.
Other seniors Ponnam Prabhakar is given BC Welfare Ministry and Konda Surekha is handed over the Women and Child Welfare Ministry. Damodar Raja Narasimha secured the Health Ministry and Tummala Nageswara Rao is credited with the Roads and Buildings portfolio.
Interestingly, no one was allocated the significant Finance portfolio which means the Chief Minister would himself take over that portfolio.
The first cabinet meeting is expected to happen today at 5 pm in BR Ambedkar Praja Bhavan.
