Tiruvur MLA Kolikapudi Srinivasa Rao expressed his displeasure over the negligence of authorities in filling up potholes on the road. In a unique form of protest, he sat on a stool in a pit formed on the main road near Tiruvur municipality. The protest was prompted by complaints from locals about the road being completely damaged due to recent rains.
Upon receiving the information, R&B AE Gayathri arrived at the scene and spoke with the MLA. She explained that the government had sanctioned Rs. 1.96 crore for road development, with the tender process completed and a work order issued to the contractor in January. However, the work was halted due to the election code of conduct. She assured that road development would resume as soon as the monsoon season ended.
The MLA, advising her to at least conduct temporary repairs to ensure the public did not face further difficulties, called off the protest.
