In Vizianagaram, the manner in which postal ballots were transported to the counting centers has caused a stir. The strong room at the tehsildar’s office was opened, and the postal ballots were moved without informing the opposition parties. Only YSRCP leaders were present during this process, raising suspicions about its integrity.
Regulations require that videography of such procedures be conducted in the presence of representatives from all parties, but this was not adhered to by the authorities. Vizianagaram YSRCP candidate Kolagatla Veerabhadra Swamy’s son-in-law Kaushik and YSRCP leader Appalanaidu, accompanied by officials, accessed the strong room and moved the ballots before TDP candidates were even aware.
The ballots for the MP candidate were transferred in a manner that violated electoral rules. In response, Aditi Gajapathi Raju lodged a formal complaint with the authorities, highlighting the irregularities in the handling of the postal ballots.
