TDP and BJP leaders have demanded that it is not enough with the resignation of Prof PVGD Prasad Reddy, who converted the Vice Chancellor’s Chamber into YCP’s office and committed endless irregularities and corruption, but a judicial probe should be conducted against him.
In the wake of the resignations of Andhra University VC Prasada Reddy and Registrar Stephenson, university alumni celebrated at the university campus. They were joined by leaders of TDP, BJP and Jana Sena.
Along with BJP MP CM Ramesh, TDP MLAs Velagapudi Ramakrishnababu, Ganta Srinivasa Rao and Vamsikrishna joined them. AU students and researchers gave a warm welcome to them. The BJP, TDP and Jana Sena alliance leaders were furious at the media conference held on this occasion on the irregularities committed by PVGD Prasad Reddy as AU VC.
Anakapalli BJP MP CM Ramesh said that there is no point in leaving Prasad Reddy with his resignation. He alleged that during elections the VC office was converted into YCP office and money was sent from here for YCP party surveys and other programs. He expressed anger that iron fencing was built around the VC’s office to prevent anyone from entering the office.
He recalled that Andhra University is one of the renowned universities in India, and the prestige of such a university was severely damaged during the reign of Prasad Reddy. He alleged that about Rs.100 crores of funds have been misappropriated. Ramesh asked the Governor and the government to order an immediate judicial inquiry against Prasad Reddy.
Bhimili legislator and former minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao said that he brought many changes when he was the education minister in 2014-19. He made it clear that those who have been wronged by students in the past will be given justice and AU University will be made free of any politics.
Ganta questioned why the statue of YS was installed in the varsity. He alleged that exams were conducted and appointments were made against the rules. He said that action will be taken against those who got the posts illegally.
He said that he will ask the government to take action against former VC Prasada Reddy. Ganta Srinivasa Rao assured that the previous conditions will be restored in AU. Saying that he will not do politics in the university, he asserted that even Chief MInister Chandrababu Naidu will not allow the environment of university campuses to spoil.
