Renowned Film Producer and Director Tammareddy Bharadwaja, who has earlier expressed his discontent over the outcome of Tollywood prominent personalities meeting with Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, also finds fault with latest trend of hero’s going theaters with publicity. He felt that such an attitude only led to the recent unfortunate incident at Sandhya Theater stampede.
Referring to the Sandhya Theater incident, he said ‘‘Looking at the recent events, not only those in the industry but also those outside will get a clarity. Fans see cinema as gods. Accordingly, heroes should go in four cars wherever they go. They are expected to do road shows. Such things have become common in recent times”.
He made it clear that if they go silently and come back after watching the movie, there is less chance of such incidents happening. In the past, he reminded us that heroes were not like this. He recalled that there are many occasions when top heroes like Chiranjeevi, Nagarjuna, Venkatesh and Balakrishna watched movies with their fans.
“They would go to some multiplex silently. They would watch the movie. On the way out, they would talk to the people there for a while. Even if they had to go to a single screen theater.. they would go to the theater without telling anyone and come back after watching the movie”, he added.
But, Bharadwaja deplored that it is not like this now. Thanks to social media, he said that fans quickly know where and when a hero is. With this, he added that fans are flocking in large numbers to see the heroes.
The veteran film personality advised that heroes should also think about the well-being of the fans and the public. He deplored that “To make it seem like heroes are taking more money, movie ticket prices have to be increased. Producers are ready to give as much as you ask. They are putting that burden on the people by increasing ticket prices”.
Thammareddy cautioned that “all heroes should know one thing. They should be a source of pride for the Telugu people, not in terms of collections, but in terms of performance. If you also think that you are ordinary people, there would be no such rush,” he said.
