Tamil actor Suriya has officially announced his next film titled Karuppu, marking his 45th film as a lead actor. Directed by RJ Balaji, the project is being produced under the Dream Warrior Pictures banner. The film’s title was revealed on the occasion of RJ Balaji’s birthday, with Suriya sharing the first look poster and extending his wishes to the director.
Academy Award-winning composer A.R. Rahman has been roped in to score the music for the film, which is reportedly a fantasy action drama. According to the makers, the script underwent over a year of development. RJ Balaji, who began his career as a radio jockey, has established himself as a multi-faceted talent in Kollywood, having previously directed successful films such as Ammoru Thalli featuring Nayanthara and Veetla Vishesham starring Sathyaraj. Karuppu marks his third directorial venture and his first collaboration with Suriya.
