BRS MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha, implicated in the Delhi Liquor Policy case, faced a setback in the Supreme Court as her plea was denied. The bench handling Kavitha’s petition to dismiss the criminal charges against her and to secure bail declined her request.
During the proceedings, the bench emphasized adherence to a uniform legal process regardless of the petitioner’s identity, stating a preference for the trial court to address bail matters initially. The bench underscored the need for petitioners to follow the standard procedure of seeking bail from lower courts first.
Previously, the bench had linked Kavitha’s arguments to Vijay Madan Lal’s case concerning potential constitutional violations in his arrest, indicating a focus solely on constitutional matters.
