Dr N Sunitha Reddy, daughter of former minister YS Vivekananda Reddy, who was brutally killed ahead of 2019 polls, alleged on Saturday that her father’s murder was a political conspiracy. She gave a presentation titled ‘Justice for Viveka’ at the Basheerbagh Press Club, Hyderabad, seeking justice in the case.
She mentioned the political developments after YSR’s death in 2009 as part of the conspiracy. Sunitha expressed her grief that those who killed YS Viveka are roaming outside. The systems are unable to do anything. She felt that justice will never be done if murderers are in power.
She revealed that she is making her efforts to defeat Kadapa MP and her cousin brother YS Avinash Reddy to be defeated in the present elections, only to ensure justice in the murder of her father. Recalling her journey for the last five years seeking justice in the case, she admitted that it really very difficult task and facing many hardships.
“I am an educated one, having a social status and intelligence, but remained helpless and facing a hopeless situation in this journey”, she added. She made it clear that her fight has nothing to do with politics, but only to seek justice in father’s murder case. That’s why, she said she has decided to work hard for the success of YS Sharmila in the Lok Sabha polls, who is contesting against Avinash Reddy in Kadapa.
Recollecting incidents that led to Viveka’s murder, Suneetha said that before 2009 one among YS Rajasekhar Reddy and YS Vivekananda Reddy used to contest from Kadapa Lok Sabha seat. At the time of YSR’s death as Jaganmohan Reddy was an MP, there was a discussion about who should contest from Pulivendala by-election.
At that time YS Jagan suggested YS Bhaskar Reddy’s name, but was opposed by Vivekananda Reddy, who suggested that YS Sharmila or YS Vijayamma should contest and ultimately Vijayamma contested.
Meanwhile, Congress decided to induct Vivekananda Reddy into the state cabinet, but was opposed by YS Jagan. After that, both Jagan and Vijayamma resigned from Congress and caused 2011 by-elections. Later, Vivekananda Reddy also deciding to stay with Jagan resigned from the Congress, Sunitha added.
She recalled that after Jagan’s arrest in CBI cases, it was Sharmila, who led the party on her shoulders. After the resignation of the MPs and MLAs who came with Jagan, Sharmila campaigned and played a key role in their winning in by-polls.
Sunitha said that Sharmila’s coult and popularity worried YS Jagan and started keeping her aside. Everyone thought that she would contest from Kadapa in the 2014 elections, but Jagan decided to give that seat to Avinash Reddy..
It was opposed by Vivekananada Reddy and it was due to Avinash’s sabotage Viveka lost in MLC polls. Sunita said that she did not believe these things initially and later wondered after knowing facts. In 2019 polls, she said her father insisted Sharmila should contest from Kadapa, which attracted Jagan’s ire.
When Viveka’s name was missed from Pulivendala voters list, she said initially she felt it was the opposition’s plot, but later revealed own party people were only responsible for it.
