The Andhra Pradesh politics is again changing, as the coalition leaders are planning new strategies against the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP). Subsequent to a dreadful performance in the voting process many more preeminent dignitaries have deserted the YSRCP and joined different affiliations. Among reported intending to defect is a former minister close to the chief minister Jagan Mohan Reddy, it is said to have received assurances about his future in the Jana Sena Party.
The YSRCP is at the moment facing a major problem involving the resignation of most of its elders. Some of these members have already dumped the party with many others tipped to dump it in the near future. Recently two Rajya Sabha MPs Mopidevi Venkataramana and B Satyavathi Rao, have resigned from the party and switched over to the TDP. Furthermore, many of his relatives, including Balineni and Samineni have promised to support Jagan’s newly formed Jana Sena party. The former Chairperson of the Women’s Commission in the previous Jagan regime, Vasireddy Padma, has also resigned and is using disparaging words against the party. In addition, the signal that the former Home Minister Mekathoti Sucharita, who is a family friend of Jagan, is likely to quit YSRCP shortly.
Sucharita started her political career in 2009 when she won the post of MLA for Prathipadu. In 2012 she resigned in support to Jagan and came out successful in the consequent by poll. , but she was catapulted to defeat in the 2014 general election. When YSRCP won in 2019, Jagan made her as Home Minister although she was dropped later and had some time even quit the YSRCP party. She said that after coming across Jagan she realized her loyalty and dedication lies with the YSRCP. She changed her mind as the 2024 elections neared and wanted to contest from Tadepalli instead of Prathipadu where she won a seat that she desired but unfortunately lost the election.
After the results of the election Sucharita has severed links with the party and she has not been seen active in any party activities. Though Jagan went twice lately to Guntur, she has taken conscious decision not to visit the place. There are rumors that she may switch over to Jagan as of now TDP has MLAs from both Prathipadu and Tadepalli. It appears she is already planning to defect to the Jana Sena Party. Sources suggest that has been in talks with chief executives of Jana Sena and has got assurances already from Pawan for future engagements. A meeting with the Jana Sena is expected to be held next week meaning that she might announce her stand in the next coming weeks.
