Story:

In this intriguing murder mystery, quirky detective Sherlock Holmes (played by Vennela Kishore) hails from the coastal town of Srikakulam and is tasked with solving the shocking murder of a young woman named Mary (Dokala Navya) in Vizag. With just seven days to crack the case, Sherlock quickly narrows down the list of suspects to seven individuals, including Balakrishna (Ravi Teja Mahadasyam), Bhramaramba (Ananya Nagalla), and Ramesh Patnaik (Prabhakar).

As Sherlock digs deeper into the case, the complex web of clues and suspects starts to unravel, keeping the audience hooked. The mystery intensifies as the detective races against time to figure out who killed Mary and the true connections each suspect has to the crime.

This gripping story revolves around Sherlock’s sharp wit and keen observation, as he uncovers hidden motives and twists that keep viewers on the edge of their seats. Will Sherlock solve the case in time? Who really killed Mary? The pursuit of these answers forms the core of the story.

Review:

Vennela Kishore excels in the lead role, delivering sharp comedic timing and effectively using the Srikakulam accent to engage the audience. His mischievous character is well-explained in the second half, bringing more clarity to his role.

Ananya Nagalla impresses with her portrayal of two contrasting sides to her character. While some of her actions may frustrate the audience, it highlights her impressive acting skills.

Raviteja Mahadasyam gives a solid performance, and Prabhakar, Bhadram, Anish Kuruvilla, and others all deliver performances that fit well within their roles. The dialogues referring to Srikakulam and the regional song add a nice local flavor to the film, enhancing its authenticity.

Crime comedy thrillers must depend on exciting plots with shocking twists, and the movie fails in this category. The killer identity soon becomes predictable, especially for fans who have watched the series enough, which breaks down suspense in the movie.

The movie has refreshing energy brought to it by Vennela Kishore’s performance, much-needed for comic relief, though the first half is a little too predictable, and this movie has a screenplay which does not hold up the kind of intensity and unpredictability expected from this genre. While the second half picks up with some twists, some are just illogical or overly contrived.

It can be said that Mohan, in his debut, as both director and writer, shows promise, yet the screenplay of the movie sometimes makes it look convenient rather than thoughtfully crafted. With an evident effort, this movie lacks depth and intricate twists that make a crime comedy thriller successfully hold good.

The music by Sunil Kashyap is good, but the background score could have been more impactful in building tension. The production values are decent but do not elevate the overall experience.

Overall, Srikakulam Sherlock Holmes is a crime comedy thriller that has its moments but fails to maintain consistent excitement. While Vennela Kishore and Ananya Nagalla give strong performances, the film’s predictable plot, sluggish first half, and underdeveloped characters make it hard to stay fully engaged.
