Nellore: The indefinite hunger strike led by senior TDP leader and former minister Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy against illegal mining in the Nellore district was disrupted by the police. Somireddy had been fasting for the past four days at the illegal quarry excavation site in Varadapuram when he was taken into custody around 2 am. Subsequently, he was escorted home by law enforcement vehicles.

Approximately 200 individuals, including hijras and YSRCP members, were dispatched to the peaceful protest area. Attempts were made to deploy heavy machinery and vehicles in the quarry, but TDP supporters obstructed the move, leading to heated arguments and tensions between the two factions. The police intervened, ultimately dispersing both groups.
