When ‘Game Changer’ project was announced three years ago, many felt that Ram Charan was quite lucky to grab the golden opportunity to collaborate with a pan-India director like Shankar immediately after working with SS Rajamouli for RRR. Shankar is considered as one of the fewest directors in the country who is capable of attracting moviegoers beyond the regional territories.
Unfortunately, the disastrous result of Indian 2 with Kamal Haasan and also the shelving of a multilingual film with Ranveer Singh in these three years have largely impacted Shankar’s box office credibility. In the meantime, Ram Charan attained popularity after the humongous success of RRR all over the country. His newfound pan-India craze is going to help Game Changer bigtime.
In one of his recent media interactions, Shankar hailed Ram Charan’s commanding screen presence and lauded his profound acting skills. He said Charan is capable of giving in-depth performances and praised that the RRR actor can handle any scene effortlessly.
In a way, Shankar is betting big on Ram Charan’s craze after RRR for his Game Changer. He is hoping for a strong comeback to his zone after films like I, 2.0 and Indian 3 didn’t generate adequate success as expected by trade circles.
Game Changer is touted to be a Shankar mark social drama which explores a burning issue in the modern day society. It has a political angle with plenty of commercial elements. Moreover, the songs and action episodes are said to be mounted on a grand scale in Shankar’s signature style.
The film has been carrying high expectations all over the country. While Charan’s fan base in Telugu States will ensure a solid opening, Shankar’s fame in Tamil Nadu is likely to help the film to some extent. How well will it fare in North circuits and other languages will define the box office status. It is slated for release on January 10th.
